Code of Ethics

The NCYCA is an association of North Carolina summer camps & adventure programs dedicated to strengthening and expanding the educational, environmental and recreational opportunities provided by organized camps in North Carolina.  It operates as a 501 (c) (6) non-profit organization, and is governed by an elected Board of Directors.

The members of the North Carolina Youth Camp Association recognize and accept their responsibility to deliver high quality summer camp programs, to maintain a superior level of professionalism, and to demonstrate integrity and fairness in all camp operations and communications.

Agreeing to hold these principles and values, all NCYCA members thereby strive to:

  1. Behave in a manner consistent with the association's mission to serve collectively the organized summer camps of North Carolina.
  2. Provide an environment conducive to promoting and protecting the physical and emotional well being of campers and staff members.
  3. Enhance personal and organizational understanding of summer camp industry standards.
  4. Recognize environmentally sound practices.
  5. Establish amicable local community relations.
  6. Abide by and comply with state and local codes, laws and regulations.
  7. Honor financial commitments to parents, staff, and vendors.
  8. Foster trust and mutual respect among all camp participants.

Members of the North Carolina Youth Camp Association are committed to the core values and practical guidelines this Code of Ethics represents.
