ABOUT CHUCK MCGRADY:
“Chuck McGrady has a long history with summer camps. He, his father, uncle, and brother were campers at Camp Sequoyah, and Chuck was a counselor at Camp Sequoyah, Camp High Rocks and Falling Creek Camp in the 1970’s. After practicing law in Atlanta for a decade, Chuck moved back to western North Carolina to run Falling Creek Camp. With Donnie Bain, he directed Falling Creek Camp from 1989 to 2005. He’s now Falling Creek’s Director Emeritus.
McGrady has also been active in the broader camping community. He served on the national boards of the American Camp Association and the Association of Independent Camps. He was on the board of the Southeastern Section of the American Camp Association for many years, working primarily on public policy and legislative issues.
McGrady has been actively engaged in public policy and advocacy for decades. He currently is a Henderson County Commissioner and previously served as Chairman of the Henderson County Planning Board and on the Flat Rock Village Council. His work primarily focuses on environmental protection and children’s issues. He is a former national president of the Sierra Club, currently is a trustee of the N.C. Clean Water Management Trust Fund, and has served on numerous non-profit boards, including the Children & Family Resource Center, Muddy Sneakers, Inc., the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy, and Four Seasons Hospice.
Chuck and his wife, Jean, live in Hendersonville. His son, Steve, is a junior at Virginia Tech and his daughter, Lisa, is in Colorado working with a horse trainer.”
